Everytime I acquire 8 or 9 bars they disappear. What is happening? Thank you.

I play Candy Crush all the time. I am on 483 and once again, I had gold bars yesterday and today they are gone. I did not use them. In fact, I don't even know what to use them for!!!! I have lost alot  of bars over time. Please help me understand. Thank you
