I've lost all my progress after getting a new phone, now back at level 1

Upgraded phone transferred everything over and have lost all my progress, never used facebook but signed in through the game centre

Progress doesn't get linked to anything else other than Facebook and Kingdom. As long as you actively connected your game to either Facebook or Kingdom, your progress will be saved and synced to it. If you did, when you reconnect to that account in the game again, the progress from the point where it was last synced will come up.
Do you still have your old phone handy?

No not anymore I've never logged in through facebook either, don't want to lose everything!
