Why does the candy crush game continually shut down when I try to play?

Each time the game is opened it quickly shuts down. Occasionally I have been able to get to game board, but upon tapping my level, it shuts down. If I am lucky enough for the level to open, as soon as it does, it shuts down. I deleted and reloaded, lost all my lives and candy helpers and still this continues to happen. Please help!

Thanks Dawn, that makes it an iPad 2 which has shown to be no longer compatible with our games
You can still play it on other devices and on PC too.
