Map level symbol meanings

What does the symbol on the map mean on the oval where the level number is and the bottom half of the oval is outlined in gold and in the center underneath the level number there is a symbol that looks like maybe a Gold crown or the top part of a heart with Brown Circular splotches on each half and four gold bead looking things on the bottom? Is there anywhere where a key for all the symbols in the game can be viewed?

Ahhh this, I think they changed the graphics for the hard levels symbol, each one of the levels with those on that I checked says it's a hard level.

The "Gold crown or the top part of a heart with Brown Circular splotches on each half and four gold bead looking things on the bottom" is a SKULL.
