What happened to all the lives in my envelope?

I had been saving lives in my envelope all week so I would have them when the new levels came out today because with the new version you can't ask for and get lives very easily.  well wouldn't you know they all disappeared when I refreshed to get the new levels.  That was about the ONLY redeeming feature of the new format and now that is gone too - whats up with that?

Lives in the game are not collectible items. The game is designed to be played with the 5 free lives and a few more that you get sent each day. Lives, along with boosters are saved directly to your device's memory and sometimes by deleting and reinstalling the game or with an update of either your device's operating system or of the game itself, boosters can be lost. For this reason we never recommend storing too many lives or boosters on your device as not only is there a chance they may be lost but they can also affect the game play.

Lives in the game refresh for free so you are still able to play and enjoy the game.
