Candy Crush crashes on load - returns to home screen

I was around level 1800 when this problem started (around March 22nd after an update).  I was in the middle of the level when it rebooted and attempted to reload Candy Crush.  Since then, every time I try loading Candy Crush it starts loading then goes back to the home screen - if I double click the screen I can see the level the screen I was playing when it crashed in the background but if I click on it, it just takes me back to the loading screen.  I have tried a hard reset but it continues doing the same thing.  I do not have this backed up on Facebook and would like to restore this back to where I was.

If you create a Kingdom account before you delete the app then your progress will be safe.

Open the app and in the bottom left corner tap the settings button. Tap the orange symbol and set up your account.

I walked through the troubleshooting steps - no changes. The problem for creating a Kingdom account on my device is that the app will not open - it just attempts to load then closes down... actually if I double click it will show me the game I was playing when the game crashed over a month ago (even after doing many hard resets). Any ideas?
