Striped candy contest - all progress lost

I am logged in using Facebook and my current level is acccurate. However I have been competing in a currently live striped candy contest and am currently leading in the quest to get to Cake island with less than 1 day to go. 

Earlier today all progress on this was lost (over 4,000 points!) and I was returned to the first island. All my other progress is intact - just the contest. 

Anyone had this, or have any ideas on how to fix it?

Really don’t want to have to start again st the first island.

Hi Andrew, sorry for the delay in responding but thank you for writing us here at King Care.  In order to win this contest you have to be online and wait until the last possible second to find out who the top 3 were.  I had that happen to me when I played it a couple of weeks ago.  It was 1:00 AM and I had over 1000 more stripes than the other two below me.  There was 1 1/2 hours left to go and I felt secure leaving the game thinking that no one would ever be able to accumulate more than 1000 stripes in that time frame.  I was wrong!  When I woke up the next day the contest had ended and I was in third place.  Second place had 6 more stripes than me and first place had gotten way over 1000 more than me.  There are crazy competitors out there that would lose sleep just to make it to first place!
