💯Favorite sentence since I last posted ➡️ "Graciously as a true Southern Belle!", on Page 55, by Blossoming Expert @debrichmond for, even though I am no belle, I have for sure become a Southern gal. #GeorgiaOnMyMind
🔸 🇫 🇺 🇳 ▫️🇫 🇦 🇨 🇹 🇸 ➡ The photograph above, from the opening scene of "Gone With the Wind", was used to promote the movie's premiere in 1939 and shows Scarlett O'Hara (played by Vivien Leigh) as the archetypal & quintessential Southern belle. For generations of Americans -and for millions of people worldwide- who grew up with "Gone With the Wind", the idea of the Southern belle is inextricable from this and other images of Scarlett’s big dresses, verdant plantations and charm. Furthermore, Scarlett’s dress -with its many layers- displays her wealth which has since -together with a belle's charm and ability to draw lots of suitors- become a staple of the Southern belle and the embodiment of the ideals, values and morals of the "Old South".
