I've spent 5 dollars on gold bars to climb the beanstalk but never got a free climb. Is that right?

Our game team is working on the Beanstalk feature! Many thanks for your patience.

In the meantime you might actually get a chance to climb for free if you check in on your game from time to time. That is why I pointed you to this thread.

Mine still isn’t working. Popped up today, I clicked on it and it says come back for a free spin. Wants me to pay 10 gold bars to play now. I haven’t gotten a chance to play the last two times.

Hi @michellew and welcome to our Community!

We've noticed that couple of things that can disturb the timer in the free climb:

First of all please make sure that you have a strong internet connection so your game's timer isn't losing connection to our servers. Secondly note that if you have changed the clock in your device, it may disturb the timer on the Beanstalk. 

But regardless hopefully it will run smoother on the next game app update. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.
