How to send other players lives

I somehow started getting lives from other players not Facebook friends. I don’t know if the game is sending them to me or a real person but I’d like to return lives at other times than when they send them. How do I do that?

Wherever you see a pink heart next to a player's name click on it and Bam! it's sent them a life. It should change it to a green tick or somesuch.
