Aside from the standard troubleshooting tips as suggested above, you may disconnect your device from the internet, wait for few seconds, reconnect the device to the internet and then resume playing. Hopefully, this will help reload the game. Further, please check that your device storage/memory is sufficient as lack in storage or memory will cause certain applications to lag. If this is the cause, you may want to consider deleting unused apps or large files.
