It seems like you have connectivity issue, please ensure that your wifi/internet connection is stable and your device is upgraded to Win10 for better performance. If these are working properly, please restart your device and log back in to the game again and see you can connect to the Microsoft Store.
Please also ensure that your app is of latest version and to update the app, please read below.
Select the Start screen, then select Microsoft Store. In Microsoft Store at the upper right, select the account menu (the three dots) and then select Settings. Under App updates, set Update apps automatically to On.
