Hello and welcome to the community.
It is very generous to give out lives. However, please note that when you send someone a life, you don't lose anything. This is simply giving and receiving lives without cost.
When one of your friends need a life, you can know by seeing a life request saying someone asks you to send a life. Click on Accept, and then the life will be sent, and you will not lose one.
You can also send lives by going to a low level and clicking on envelopes near each friend.

The lives you have stored can not be transferred to other players. You can give your friends the lives once someone requests you. The request message will appear in your lives heart box. Once you accept your friends request, they will get one life but it will not affect your stored lives.
