Extra lives

I had two lives remaining, and then I leveled up which gave me 5 lives, but it only put me up to 5 again. Seems the lives should be allowed to go over 5 in this scenario, otherwise I'm losing lives I earned.

Unfortunately, in the lives inbox, there are only 5 lives available and if we get a prize, 5 more lives are not included.

Welcome, newcomer; & this wouldn't be an issue if you were looking in the right place.

If you play via the FB/Meta (lots of people do), you can receive many of them like that; but you should also be fair & send out (at least) the same amount.

There is also another method (discussing it here would get the comments censored), you can type the query in your favourite Internet search engine & find an answer on there that works for you; but keep that information off of this website.
