I don't intend starting until the weekly game starts, otherwise, if you are at the top with no new levels to play it is impossible to collect enough sugar stars.
Also, would it help to start 12240 with a lucky candy booster, if that option is available ?

There is no free lunch for us front runners any more, stuck on 12242, looked up on YouTube, 9 days ago it had 33 moves and started out with an all stripe window. Now only 25 moves. Way to go King!

There was no need. The level comes with a lot of lucky candy. It appears that those players that failed initially had boosters that destroyed the lucky candies. The lucky candies given in the level become more than enough bubble gum.

Got as far as 12268. This level is just a really really poor design, it makes no sense how you are expected to complete it.
Where to start.
The first bits you need to clear are all hidden behind triple liquorice fencing, so it takes a while to remove that.
The wonderful wrapper on the left gives a CBxCB which is helpful, the one on the right gives a stripe+stripe, which is completely pointless.
Eventually you are left with toffees going round the conveyor belt in a completely nonsensical order, plus they have a tendency to skip out the horizontal sections and fall into the bottom vertical section where they are impossible to hit.
If you manage to clear them all, and somehow still have moves left, the final two ingredients are unlocked in the two areas with 54 marked on them. They cannot be cleared because they sit above a wall of frosting which is impossible to hit- there are no vertical stripes dispensers directly above them to help, the horizontal stripe sections at the bottom rarely dispense, oh, and don't be thinking it should be ok with only two colours at the bottom because green and orange candies are introduced here after you make any move down there, rendering both bottom sections unusable.
@Crazy Cat Lad @LindQ, a complete rethink is needed with this one.

Do you think it is possible to win such an event, it is just beginning and you can see how many stars it has. Need to go through 980 levels with Sugar Stars. Maybe one of the CM can explain it

It is a complete farce, I have just started and the event is only 2 hours old. The Sugar Star scores are impossible in that time. This is a complete joke @Crazy Cat Lad
