Apparently there are different "Pots of Gold", my predecessors have 12,595,142 players and mine have 8,592,770 players

Well then I guess I'm finished too as I collected the required orange. I didn't get any gold (not a surprise) but as few lousy boosters. Never again. I'm done with these events. Not worth my time.

You only get the GB when the event is over! Only then can you calculate how many GB each player gets...
