I have thought of this, too. The present system of making levels so hard people can only progress by buying gold means that the rich elite keep the game profitable, while so many frustrated less affluent people are forced to give up playing. Eventually the exodus of players will kill the game, surely. If you made the game fun again players might be prepared to pay a small subscription fee, it might work.
Although it's probably too late for that now. You've already put the first nail in the coffin.
