That thread does not contain mention of the specific issue I raised, but @Sukanta_Biswas' reply that the game has had several problems lately is helpful and I suspect it could be related. So, thank you @kiara_wael
To update, I'm now unable to play on mobile at all. As soon as I open the game, the Chocolate Box's grayed out Continue button now appears right away. I urge you to elevate this matter to King ASAP.

Update: New day, same persistent error.
Hope the team is working hard at resolving it soon.
Am I the only one experiencing it? Surprised no one else has mentioned it.
