Changes made in 7054 and above

I do not understand the changes starting on 7054 and mostly started today, Sept 11, 2023. The striped yellows with the red lines, the octopus, the matching knots, the stripes and colors don’t combine at times. I have just followed suggested moves to get by but I don’t understand the changes. I know the game or wouldn’t have gotten this far. King does not explain the changes.
