Please share details on how can I play this game with a friend (adding friends) without going through Facebook. I have an apple device and she has an Android device. Any advise would be appreciated.

Yes! It is possible to add friends without Facebook. And, you can do this directly from your game - whether you are using an Android device or Apple device OR even on a laptop - App version.
All you have to do is --> click on your profile icon -- then, click on "Friends" -- you will see "Add more friends" at the bottom of that pink box -- click on that;
** Now, you will see names of multiple players that are in the same milestone level as you are. You will see a small + icon next to their names -- All you have to do is click on that +. If you they like to be your friends, you will have them as friends in your game;
** The second method is --> Once you click on "Add more friends" tab -- you will see a tab in Blue box that says "Invite Friends" and share the link with other players in this Community. Our Community Crushers are very sweet people and they will be happy to add you as a friend 🍫🍫

there is a friend feature on CCS. On page 1 of the following thread, you will find a tutorial to help you post and share your friend links on it. I hope this will answer your request 🙂
On the following thread you can post and share your friend links which is a feature in CCS. On page 1, you'll find a tutorial on how to copy your friend link and post it in the thread.
