Why do I lose unused gold bars that I earned overnight?! Also the daily treat machine reaches day 20 or so and then does not present itself for several days, which results in the machine resetting itself back to about day 15 or lower!.

With regards to the Daily Treat Machine, there is a glitch that is affecting many players. There is a trick to bring it back. Please see HERE to check my tips.

Try with disconnecting and reconnecting your King or Facebook account in the game and the Gold Bars should reload in your game.If the Gold Bars still do not show up Please email Player Support from the game's Settings and Help Center so they can check up what happened in your game.
