Remember All Stars 2023 when some in the community were asking this very question: How many purple candies is it possible to make? The Pot of Gold event has given me the perfect opportunity to test this out for my game today.
So I decided to only play new levels to get my 13,000 purple candies. One game from level 561 to 710 on my latest login, the other at levels 5046-5162 on a different login. I set my stopwatch to see how long it would take me on each game to get to 13,000 purple. Here is the strangest finding:
It took me exactly 2 hours and 36 minutes on EACH of those two very different games. Exactly the same time....Now that might be a coincidence. Surely, it must be?
In the 500-700 range I played more levels, the yield per level was mostly 100-150 purple. In the 5000+ levels I played fewer levels, but some took longer to pass and I was able to make more than 200 on many levels, very few over 300, some had no purple at all though. But yes, regardless of the level range, level difficulty or if I was just rushing through the level or trying to play to draw the level out to make more purple, the result was pretty constant: 83 purple per minute on average.
As much as I tried, I was unable to make 400 or more purple on any single level at all! King must have put a stop to that: All the good cascade levels have changed to different colours, and for those that remain you invariably get such a lucky board that it self completes with 25 or even 35 moves left on the board! I did not find a single level that would not self destruct once it started cascading and I found no way to stop it from doing that. I can see why King have put a stop to the cascades, but it is sad none the less as it takes the fun out of the game for all of us.
Here I go again. It's a great weekend to check out how many purple candies you can crush with any given strategy. Reward Hustle gives a count today for anyone why wishes to try. For some reason it doesn't have the 30x multiplier for new levels!!! Are King trying to test things out before All Stars...? Well I am.
I did the following tests yesterday with the purple warm up event.
Strategy 1: My preferred normal fast game play -
i.e Try to keep top win streak using CB + wrap/stripe starting boosters plus 3rd starting booster if appropriate on hard or worse levels, use other boosters/gold to play on sparingly, new levels only
Depending on episodes played they took between 22 and 29 minutes each, scoring 77- 98 purple per minute
Strategy 2: Speed through levels like there is no tomorrow
Using boosters (except Party poppers) liberally to pass levels as fast as I can: 18-19 minutes per episode, scoring 106-107 purple per minute
Strategy 3: Deleted in edit January 2025
If the objective is to collect a maximum number of purple candies within a limited amount of time, then level 11000 may not be a bad choice. The chances of losing on any given play (if you have your wits about you) seem to be around 1 in 15 or 20. On average, any given play seems to collect about 90 purple candies per minute.
This is an old thread @Lance and since All Stars 2024 a lot has changed in the game. In fact I believe that since then King have tweaked the levels in such a way that many yield a specific number of purple at most and long cascades are no longer possible. So what I wrote above a year ago is out of date and no longer applies.
Some of the upper levels have not yet been ruined by King. Unfortunately what you are suggesting will not work for any candy collection tournament since replaying a level over and over will not give players the 30x multiplier.
For better or for worse, now someone has dug up this old thread from a year ago it makes me quite sentimental. Note how a year ago I bemoaned that there were no longer any levels that would give more than 400 purple. Well, now in 2025 there are hardly any that will give over 200 purple.
