I had several lives in my envelope and now it's empty and greyed out - this is the second time this has happened, any idea what I can do?

Which device are you using? Try logging out -- closing the game & logging in and see if the lives appear back!
Did your game or the browser update today? We have received some complaints that when they updated their browser, they have lost their stored lives!
I would suggest you to send a complaint to the King Player Support team! They won't be able to send those missing lives. But, if they have received multiple complaints about this issue, they will be able to report, and the game team can investigate it!
