Are you playing on Facebook browser or the game app downloaded from Windows 10?
It actually started yesterday. I play on my desktop, not my phone. How would I disconnect the game from Facebook?

Is your game usually connected to your Facebook account? If yes, Facebook had some issues earlier today so the game app might have lost connection to your account.
Try disconnecting the game from Facebook, restart your device, connect the game back to FB and give it another try to get your progress synced back.
