My wife is at lvl 2000 and something, while I'm at 245. She gets the option to watch ads for extra lives and items to use, and I don't. Same app, same version, why the differences?

Ads are a test feature that is sent to random groups of players for a certain period of time. Once that specific period is over, those testing features are moved to different groups of players! Your wife is part of the test group, but you are not!
As players, we do not know who will be added to these groups as the players as are randomly selected. And, we do not know how long each test lasts either!!
So, all we can do is — to keep our App updated periodically, make sure there is minimum 2 GB free space on device memory, and we are actively playing the game. After that, it is just a matter of time!
