Is there a way to keep the board more even?

so often I will have almost cleared the goals and will have a few moves left but there is no way left to make any explosions near the one corner where I need a series to unlock the last bit. Whereas I can make plenty of explosions on the other side of the board that won’t do me any good unless I can get a bomb and choose some colours near the target trapped in a sea of single candies.
