Hi @Rhonda_L my thoughts on any feature that requires the completion of new levels is that we are wasting our time providing feedback in this forum. Plenty of community members have said previously that features/events that require completing levels in any great quantity ignore the current condition of the game.
Even if the 500 star requirement can be completed by playing old levels, playing 200 old levels is still a tedious chore.

You can play old levels, but only the new stars count. If I play an old level that has one star and get three stars, only the two new stars count. It might come in handy if you are only a few stars shy of the goal, but I wouldn't recommend trying to get 500 that way.
