It loads but then when it goes to the map it’s gray and frozen.

Unfortunately, your iPad is stuck on an "unknown" glitch, which will be corrected by itself and there is nothing you can do! And, neither the game team!
We have reported this glitch as we had few complaints! And strangely, it will be cleared on it's own within a week time (that was the max)!!
I would request you to please be patient and do not reinstall your game as it does not resolve the issue. Please continue playing on your phone only till the game on iPad gets better.
