At last, I finally received some assistance (level 15886). Sadly, the boosters didn’t help but appreciate it 🙂
Hi @Charleyfarley thanks for the offer, but for the time being I would prefer not to, sorry.
Hi @Charleyfarley I am honoured but I prefer to remain anonymous. I'm not the chatting type and spend too much time on both the game and in this community lately. I don't like all this attention I've been getting lately.
np Carol/Christine - quite understand 🙂
Hi @Charleyfarley I am amazed that a player was able to help you at this level! I also get the Help a Friend event again in my game but now that I no longer can collect so many free boosters I have not been able to pass a level to help a friend. It is not surprising to read that their efforts did not help you pass. It's probably another one of King's psychological tricks to get us to play on for money so not to waste our friend's efforts and the lifeline we were thrown. I am still trying to understand how this event works. Did those boosters show up on your starting board like the win streak boosters do? Did the game tell you which one of your friends sent you the help?
@christinewupp Hello Christine, the process begins with a pop up saying ‘we noticed you’re stuck on a particular level’. Then another pop up offers you 3 boosters, identifying the helper.
After you claim the boosters, they are automatically added to your next board as if you had used them from your own inventory.
The helper has 3 attempts to pass the level in order to donate the 3 boosters to the player receiving the help.
Apologies if you knew this already - it might help others anyway 🙂
Hello Christine - I got a pop up message offering 3 boosters and a ‘claim’ button and, yes, naming the player who had offered assistance.
After claiming, the boosters showed up on my board as usual. The helper gets 3 attempts to collect the boosters and doesn’t lose any of their lives while so doing.
@Charleyfarley Do you only get the boosters for 1 attempt only? after claiming the help boosters.
@Oichi @christinewupp That’s a good question. I’m fairly sure I’ve never claimed more than 1 set of boosters for the same level donated by the same player - but that just might be coincidence.
Copying in @QueenB @queenbee9214 @Alienscar @Carol-38 in case any of them can confirm.
I can't really confirm anything about this feature @Charleyfarley as I have never been on the receiving end of any help
I have had the opportunity to help six people, but I have never had a repeat request for any player even though some of those I have helped are still stuck on the same level.
I don't know for sure, but King being King I would think they only get the one chance.
My suspicion as to the purpose of this event, like just about every feature of the game at the moment, is to put us under pressure to use gold to play on or use boosters to get that last jelly or liquorice. A player who knows that a friends has gone to all this trouble to help them will feel pressurised into making the most of the opportunity and having the extra boosters will probably get them close enough to almost pass the level if they use a booster or pay the gold. Not having been on the receiving end of this feature I cannot test this out, but I suspect the extra boosters will get a player close to passing, similar to the way I find that on my attempt after I see the fishing boat I get quite close.
I am not at all convinced this event is useful to anyone, not even King, because anyone stuck for long enough to be included in this was already offered 100 extra moves for 10 gold. (Then again, their incessant nagging must pay off eventually or else why do they still offer up to 255 extra moves when it only takes one or two more moves to win most levels under 10,000.) Those of us able to help others may feel good about it, I guess, but that won't last if we realise the player remains stuck at the same level despite our efforts to help them. As far as I can see the main outcome of this feature is that many players now think they can or should be able to request help from their friends themselves and come here to the community asking how to do it.
