facebook connection issues

I am playing on Windows laptop. Everything is up to date but I always have connection issues. I was able to send random friends requests in the beginning but was only able to get one friend who is in my household. Every time I try to ask for lives or add friends, it says I'm not connected to the internet even though I am always connected. My progress is saved but it's frustrating not being able to send or receive lives, otherways it takes way too long to be able to finish the harder levels.
