I was winning and I was still dropped from 2nd to 3rd place in the weekly competition. I am now back in 2nd laburnum have lost a lot of games and shouldhave been in 1st place by now.

Looks like you are talking about "Candy Royale" tiers, right? If so, usually, we will be dropped the tiers when we miss to finish the challenge in a given time(24 hours) OR if we lose the challenge, then also, we will be dropped to next tier!
Do you remember either of these things happened in your game?
