Strange Player cards in leaderboards

I have just started to play the Warcraft finals and am finding something strange about some of the player cards in my leaderboard. Most of the nameless players appear with blank faces and at level zero on their player cards, though their other account statistics, such as levels won are there.

I pause playing to report this, as I find it intriguing and wonder if it is either related to account merging or to playing offline. I'll keep an eye out what happens to these player cards as the final progresses. This is the leaderboard, the top two players have faces but no name. The following screenshots are of their player cards.

Most of the other player cards load normally, so it's not related to app store connection at my end. There are some more nameless players further down the leaderboard, one of which does have the player card with level and image, the others don't.

Any explanation to suggest?

OMG This is so much more fun than actually competing in these finals.! Just keep track of the leaderboard. I think I've got a definite account merger or cheater playing on two devices simultaneously in my leaderboard. He hasn't been careful though and uses a recognisable image and name, he appears twice on the same leaderboard:

This seems more like a problem on King's end to me. Too many things wrong with too many players. I find it hard to believe that there are so many cheaters in one leaderboard group, all striving for 200 gold, to be honest.

If it is just a problem at King's end, then it is a BIG problem. Here is poor Asran, demoted from the second spot to 11th and with much fewer points. I can now see his player card as well now I can see his name.

In second spot we now have a carrot and the top player has changed from carrot to onion. All the same scores as before. If this is a problem then it's a big one!

No wonder players keep posting here thinking everyone else is a bot! Actually, checking carefully now Asran seems to be the player both in first and second place? I think he is both the carrot and the onion and the player with the image of his face.

I'll stop posting more now and carry on competing! I might catch him up, looks like those scores are not increasing.

No I was wrong. Now the image of the second placed player has turned up and he is from Afghanistan. So somehow the accounts of these two players got merged, the one from Sri Lanka and one from Afghanistan. Those are the carrot and the onion at the top of the leaderboard. I won't share the names or their player cards here just in case it's a glitch and they are not in fact cheaters. But I took screenshots for the record. Same image as the top two players in the first leaderboard, but this time with a functioning player card.

This is the leaderboard after I have played three episodes. I may well catch those bots, whoever they are, as their scores are not increasing and their games with the real faces are well behind me now.

Okay, I am fairly reassured now that this is a glitch: I played a level in my main game now and for some bizarre reason my own picture is showing up as one of the strange images and with a blank player card showing 49 levels played this week. There is no explanation I can offer at all why my cornflower photo would show up on some random cheater's or bot's game. This is the fake me at no.46.

Whatever it is that King are testing with this competition, they'd better fix it before All Stars! And no, I won't be answering all those angry posts next year either!
