New fishes are not as useful as old ones

I much preferred the way the old fishes worked. 3 for 1, combined with stripes for 3 targets, same for wrapped candies. Now they are much more random in their targeting, plus you need 3 times as many to do what one would do before.

Technically they are less random. They have a set order and will hit blockers that are not jelly. The old fish only hit jelly, just talking the basic blockers in this case.

The big trade off with the new vs old is, one fish that has smart targeting vs 3 that do not.

If the level has lots of jelly the old fish are better. If the level has little to no jelly the new fish are better.

The new fish also appear on all levels not just ones with fish generators or if you use the booster.

Level that currently require lots of fish, the new fish are objectively terrible. That being said they are in general better overall IMO.

I disagree that if the level has little to no jelly the new fish are better. It is also true that if the level needs striped or wrapped explosions to clear (which is especially true in most levels over 16000, for instance), the old fish are better. The difference between a single striped fish and 3 striped fish, or a single wrapped fish and 3 wrapped fish, is huge.

The ability to kill under a dragon with a fish is of very limited value, since most levels with dragons have other mechanisms that can clear these easily if played intelligently. In general the new fish are in general substantially worse overall IMO.

Agree with @Nobody1. The advantages of the new fish are not as significant at higher levels, but the downsides are more painful. Furthermore, fish sometimes interfere with more complex and intelligent mechanics at some of those levels.
