Why is it when I spend money to play, I get “can’t connect” errors?

I spend money to but gold bars and then I get “can’t connect to the internet” errors. I can still play the regular game. I can connect through every other app. I restarted my device. Internet connection is good enough to even send lives. But the one thing that took my money, with time running out, can’t “connect”? This feels like a scam.
