Getting Purchase Failed message when trying to buy gold bars

I'm using an ipad air running iOS 8.3 and Candy Crush Saga version 1.53.0 on Level 751 . Whenever I try to purchase 10 gold bars for 99 cents to prolong my play I get the message "Purchase failed! No money was removed from your account". This happens whether or not I am connected to Facebook. My iTunes account has $3.45 credit. There is no explanation of why the purchase failed. Can anyone help me.

    Hmm, have you checked that your account is okay within iTunes. I remember trying to purchase an app before and it didn't do anything. I had to go into my actual account as some of the details needed confirmation before I could proceed. Check this out, maybe it's the cause.
