I was playing levels--ahem, one level--to stay ahead in the Round 1 team event when I saw in the level leaderboard a new player with the name Alien with an also-very-high score.

I largely ignore the collection events as they take up too much time, and they are really just one of the many psychological tricks that the games plays on people to encourage them to continue playing. Without trying though I am eight on my leader board. I think it helps that the times ten bonus for playing new levels in this event seems to provide a high number of candy. I just collected 3700 for playing one level, and one before that was over 2000.

Alienscar. I can still recall your Community posts showing you pre-L2000, and now you've sailed ahead of me to near L3000.

I have been playing for a year now. I think the only reason I have got ahead of you is that I don't bother playing old levels again to compete in the events.

Some of the links in this thread are over seven days old now, so that might explain why they don't all work for you.

On a side note my latest gold chocolate box is going to reward me with 20 gold bars if I can complete 6 new levels in two days.

That's only part of the reason I replay old levels; the other is I just like to challenge myself to get at most 3 stars on all levels, if not Sugar Stars. I also tend to be competitive and simply want to beat a friend's score for certain levels. 😄 The thing is replaying older levels (for score-beating) is pointless without the aid of the timed boosters won from the collection events. I've observed that if a player begins a board with no boosters, the game's algorithm knows it and sets up difficulties; in contrast, with booster in play, one's almost bound to get that "lucky board."
