Cake Bombs

Introduction

If you have not completed level 366, be prepared for a unique type of blocker that is one of the most helpful. If you have, then you've already met the cake bomb, a blocker that creates exceptional explosions.

Appearance

The blocker represents a pink cake with chocolate and rainbow sprinkles. There is a star at the top.

Properties

Cake bombs occur in all types of levels and take up the same space, exactly 4 squares. To clear cake bombs, you will need to make adjacent matches or use special candies. Color bombs used with the candy color next to the slices also work. Note, however, that at least two matches or special candy effects must be used to clear a maximum of 1/2 of the cake. In other words, matches only remove half of adjacent slices. There are eight slices in each cake bomb, and two cover each square. Once you remove all the slices, a party popper appears, the blocker is gone, and the entire board is cleared. Cake bomb explosions can grow popcorn. If there were double jellies under the cake, they turn to single. Single jellies under the cake would be cleared instantly. A layer of other blockers are removed. However, cake bomb explosions cannot remove any slices of other cake bombs still present on the board.

Removing Cake Bombs

Cake bombs can be hard to remove if blockers surround it or if it is in an isolated or very restricted board. If it is isolated, then special candies (striped candies or their combinations) are required. One striped+wrapped or wrapped+wrapped combination right next to it will remove all the slices of the cake bomb. If they are farther by even two spaces, two will be required. Two color bomb+color bomb combinations in any location will remove them too. If you are lucky, four adjacent matches are required, if not, eight. If matches do not touch any slice, it does not remove any slice.

Help from Cake Bombs

Some level strategies call for cake bombs. For example, you can grow popcorn to its flashing state, then remove a cake bomb. Make a color bomb+color bomb combination to grow more popcorn and remove more cake bombs. Cake bombs can be helpful in any level type, especially in those with restricted board space or tons of other blockers. In order levels that require combinations, however, cake bombs are your foe. Note that if regular or special candy are removed by a cake bomb, they still count in the orders. Cake bombs can also help you shuffle unlucky boards.
