it's saying to comment to get gold and level up but I can't figure out how to get to the comment place so I can comment. Can someone help me out?

Hi Carol-38 editing the tag does not work. Whilst editing your post makes the tag appear the person tagged does not receive a notification.
The only way at the moment to 'tag' people is to reply to a post.
As you have noticed the green discussion button has been removed and replaced by an unhelpful green plus sign.
Hi @Alienscar it was me being thick, I've found the green + button I need. Still need to edit though to tag. Never mind.
Hi @Alienscar coming to you as I've tried everything else. I haven't got the green discussion button so not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if there's a problem with the new system. I'm also still having to edit a post to tag someone. Do you know if there's a problem or is it me being thick.
I finally figured out I had to scroll ALL the way down ROFLMFAO š¤£š¤Ŗš it's been a very long week it was only obvious I just wasn't thinking
@SassyZebra To post your own Discussion (comment) look for the big green NEW DISCUSSION button at the top of the Discussion board that you can see in my screenshot below.
Click on the NEW DISCUSSION button and then select New Discussion from the list that appears as you can see below.
In the empty box that appears enter the title of your discussion and then your comment below that where it says type your message.
Once done click on the POST DISCUSSION button

Hello and welcome to the community lurch3137
Just to be clear you do not get gold just for commenting. For instance I have made over 300 comments, and I have never won any gold.
To Win gold by commenting you have to enter into one of the contests, or (I think) get to one of the Legend levels.
Not only that entering a contest is no guarantee of winning gold as generally the winners arevchosen at random from all of the contest entrants.
From a level up point of view you will get to Level 2 when you have made a total of five comments.
