Let a few bombs explode. Not too many at once though to avoid an instant fail.

I'm having the same issue. Been stuck there for two days, using lots of boosters for nothing (and not being able to finish challenges) because the bombs act like a regular bomb instead of spawning the crystals. π
And I have no updates.

This looks like new bomb design that they tested already. Let the bombs explode and they should spawn crystal candies.
