4444 candy crush glitch

Level 1
The cherries on the left fall straight down with nowhere to go from there. I looked up how to pass the level thinking I was missing something and the video tutorials show it falling to the boxes on the right, not straight down.

I checked the playstore and it doesn't show an update is needed. How else can it be done?
