This is by far the worst “improvement” they have done! What’s the point of connecting with numerous friends and sending/requesting lives if you can’t even use them? It doesn’t make me buy more lives, it just makes me stop playing for the day. Mine also randomly disappear. Yesterday I closed the game with around 50 stored lives, and today I opened the app to play and had only around 8 stored lives and 0 (ZERO) actual lives. Since when do the 5 lives not replenish while I’m gone at work all day long?! Glitchy and dumb.

Exactly! The new rules made it next to impossible to complete a candy box and earn gold bars without spending money. I can’t afford to buy gold bars very often, so I earn them by playing candy boxes. If I’m stuck on a nightmarishly hard level (when, say, 6 levels are needed), since I have no accumulated lives and have to beg for them; and since there is always a time lag for friends to send lives, I get timed out. Candy Crush just got greedy.

Stop restricting the lives we can use! So many times I have 1 hour of boosters, and with the levels in the 12,000's being so difficult, 20 lives lasts no more than 10 minutes! A lot of players are leaving CC because of this restriction. It's time to remove the restriction.
