📼 Nostalgia Season: What activity from the 80’s do you miss the most?

Oh, the good ol’ days!

Like in the game, we want to kick off our own Community Nostalgia Season and share memories and anecdotes to have a blast from the past.

Today we’d like to pay tribute to all those activities we used to love:

Listening to our old cassettes,
Meeting at the roller skating rink or the mall,
Working out with leg warmers and headbands,
And playing games at the arcade!

Yes, they were great days! Every Sunday I would listen to the Top 40 on the radio in my bedroom and record all my favourite songs on my radio/cassette recorder. I had one like this but in red and black:

I had my first Walkman. I loved going to the arcades and playing the machines. I loved dancing and there were many discos back then. I remember the first video games and had a collection of hand held arcade games.

The 80's were definitely the best years! It saw the first and last of many things.

They had wooden equipment challenes all throughout dforest trails etc. Balance beams, walls to climb, etc We 80s kids/teens grew up outdoors. Leave early, come back home at dinner time.

These you hang on for dear life, and hope not to fall off or puke. Good times🤣

Grew up in the 80's but my sister's were always playing music they played Micheal Jackson Rock You song , KC and the Sunshine Band and other music like that and I got my first skateboard and I loved that....

I was born in the early 70s so growing up in the 80s listening to music was such a blast and carefree an awesome era .....i still pull out the vinyls and listen to them daily

Wow, the 80’s were my favorite years 🥰. I miss getting together with my cousins, friends and siblings and doing lots of things together. We used to go roller skating in Central Park in New York City. We played Skelly/ Skully in the streets of New York. I loved the summers with all the block parties.

I was born late 80's... so I was a toddler then and growing up in the 90's, but with older sisters some of those things was mine later on.

Cassette bands was on of them, made my own to. And My little Pony's.

I was late on getting the record player 🤣 Yes in late 80's cassettes became popular. I remember getting my first portable cassette player and cassette tape I thought I was something walking around playing my cassettes lol. Those were the best times 😊 back then my mom was going to this class it was called weight watchers and I would always go with her I thought that was big thing going to those classes back then so I would wear my leg warmers and headband and be dressed in a workout uniform I loved it until those classes shut down. Later in life I joined a gym and have been going to the same one since I was 20 years old. I miss my youth and figure as well 😄 oh if I could go back to the 80's there is so much I would change 😂 yes my grandparents I miss them as much today as I did when they passed. My grandparents was my world. I would spend at least 4 nights out of a week with them until I became a teenager and got interested in boys lol. But I still made it a point to spend as many nights as I could with them I loved my mamaw and papaw better then life 😢. The memories this post has brought back for me is amazing thank you so much @QueenB for these memories 😘

The 80"s oh yes, the music, don't miss 'cause I still dance to it and the 70's and the 90's and all the way to the present music. Still doing everything that I did in the 80's. Still dancing almost everyday, just do not go out to the nightclubs anymore but I did up to almost 60 years of age.

p.s. If you never stop dancing you will never grow old...

We didn't have portable record players. Early 80s it was hifi units with them in but late 80s records were fast being phased out and cassettes were being brought in. I can remember when one of my local goto places stopped selling records and started only selling cassettes. I did have a portable cassette player though they were all the fashion 😊

I was a teen in the 80s. I miss my innocence and my figure. And I miss my grandparents. If I could go back in time I'd make more effort to go and see them once we moved away. I thought I was being grown up staying home alone and it was nice to not have the parents around.

not that many people wore leg warmers unless at fitness classes, where I lived. I miss my bike and the freedom of being able to cycle anywhere. 80s music is still here repeated on many music channels so we haven't lost that lol. And I miss normal temperatures and cheap prices!

I miss going out to nightclubs with friends. I used to love dancing, still do but never get the chance any more. The 80s were so good for music! Pet Shop Boys, the Smiths, the Jam, Erasure, ahh... the list could be endless.

Oh wow the 80's what I would give to go back lol 🤣 those was the good ole days. I remember I had got my first portable record player and I was so proud of it. I would carry that player and my records everywhere I went and listen to the music. I would put on my leg warmers and headband and workout to the records playing. Lord this thread has really brought back some memories and put a smile on my face 😄

Hi @QueenB , I was born n the 80’s (1983) I’m 40 now, I was actually a 90’s kid. What I missed the most about the 80’s is the sound of country music. Now a days country music sounds nothing like it did back then. I luv the sound of the steel guitar. Also when I was little my parents were heathy back then. (My dad is n a nursing home now) I was mostly a toddler back n the 80’s
