    I

Monica, we are all besieged by and unconsciously engage in this sort of in-your-face hard tone...world wide all the time. Some years ago I said something so rude to a young couple walking by my house who made a comment that I should put my dogs up because they were on the lawn...I was so insulted that what came out of my mouth was searing...and when they had moved on I burst into tears and went inside to call my sister. We are best friends and each other's...oh...conscience reminders, I guess. What she said transformed my life. I hope I don't offend--I'm in no way proselytizing--it's just what came to mind for her.

She said, "Well there was this saint named Philip Neri, who on waking every morning would make the same prayer. He would say, "Watch out for Philip Neri, Lord, for today he will betray you."

That forever changed my hot tongue...I mean, it's been years and years of practice, but it has had the amazing effect of making me appreciate the innate goodness in all of us. I think the internet makes us all anonymous, which can have good and bad results.

Thank you for your kind words. Wish I could meet you in person! I'm sure we'd give each other a huge hug.

    Monica...Yes...Titan is wonderful!

Maybe 15 years ago I said something horribly rude to a young couple walking by my house who made a comment that I should put my dogs up because they were on the lawn...I was so insulted that what came out of my mouth was searing...and when they had moved on I burst into tears and went inside to call my sister. Sorry I may have led you astray with my mention of Civilisation. It's a very complex world building game and not suited for playing on a platform like this. The mobile version is rubbish and in fact the latest version I play on PS4 is nowhere near as good as Civ 1- Civ4 which I played on my PC on floppy discs, until it broke. Can't play it any more (๐Ÿ˜ข) as new computer technology won't play the old discs. I just found that one so, so addictive. Best game ever, but alas it is no more.

  • Huge hugs to you, Holly (?) Many thanks for sharing the daily prayer of Philip Neri, and its power to transform.

there are ways to play the old classic games - search for ScummVM and Gog - I think I have seen Civ on Gog recently - though you might have to pay for it again.

Looks like Gog have III and IV available

(Caveat - I bought Witcher I from GOG, couldn't get it to work at all on Windows 10 - but when I got a new Win11 laptop it worked -

And watch out for the addon packs - I wanted one game, but found you need the original game before the addon will work/is of any use - luckily I noticed the 'DLC' annotation before I bought ๐Ÿ˜€)

& ScummVM I used recently to play the Discworld trilogy - I had the original disks but no drives. I found that a lot of game software can be found as 'abandon-ware' and is often free (though some have caveats attached๐Ÿ™‚) and can take some setup to navigate the CD and disk changes - but I got there in the end ๐Ÿ˜€.

Oh, now you ARE tempting me.....I might look at that. I haven't got a laptop, but I could borrow my hubby's... Thanks very much for the advice!

    OFF TOPIC:

I've now found a version of Civ I - you can download (info in the comments on the page but I've not tried it) or play on-line - I've been playing for hours and I don't have a clue what I am doing ๐Ÿ˜‚ - https://www.myabandonware.com/game/sid-meier-s-civilization-1nj/play-1nj
