That is exactly the right strategy @Rhonda_L and I do the same with boards that are clearly unpassable on your first try. Don't waste your boosters @Vallyvally79 and just pay 10 gold where needed when they offer you enough moves, so don't even play starting boosters until then. There is no point trying to build up and keep a win streak with levels like this. Sometimes, by the time they offer you 125 extra moves you only need a lollipop hammer or a switch to pass (I wonder why.....) so always make sure you have some of these in stock as well. Good luck!

12 Hard, Super Hard, Nightmare, and Legendary. Use your Gold wisely. I played most levels without boosters and lost on purpose until I was able to buy 125 moves for 10 GB. In addition to that, I did have to use a whole heck of a lot of in-game boosters. It took me 4 days to pass this Episode.
