Why can we no longer send or receive lives any more? we can request when our lives are used up but that is not the same as sending lives like I used to.

I find that other players are continually asking me for lives but never give in return. It us just as easy to select send as well as ask. I normally unfriend these players.
All of my lives sent from friends have been deleted and I no longer get lives from friends. What was the change?
I receive the odd life, but not like I used to, always received plenty.
I haven't received any lives in weeks.
