New ufo "if you get close enough"

Ok... what is the deal with the new ufo booster if you get close enough? Of all of the times it's popped up, which has been a lot, I have only ever received the ufo one time. It doesn't matter if I win the level or if I don't. I have done both many times and still only received the booster one time. I don't understand. It says something like "keep getting close enough to receive this booster" so the wording is definitely vague, at best. I decided to post a screenshot when it popped up again 😕

Yup, I have lost the post where we talked about it in some basic detail.
More or less when you lose:
- If you are within a certain number of moves from winning, not visually but what the algorithm says, usually Tiffi will say so close but not always, you will get that popup and some progress for the UFO.
- There are three levels for the UFO, each one takes more losses to get the UFO. This varies for different people from testing. Once you do the level 3 it goes back to level 1.
- The UFO does not give act like the UFO boosted you can buy. This one does not generate a lucky board, it is literally just 3 wrapped candies. They might have changed or fixed this.
- It always launches at the start, thus making it less useful than it should be.
- It is fairly new, think dec or early jan is when it first appeared.

Thank you, everyone! This has really helped me understand it. Of course I have to agree with those who have said it's essentially useless because I have now received it twice and both times it was of no help. It activates itself at the beginning of the level and I actually think it's not just useless, but I think it actually created a disadvantage in one of the levels because it exploded other boosters I had chosen to use at the beginning of the level ☹
