The video Kiara posted is a good help here actually. The number of moves is not important, what is important is if the game gives you a lucky board that will give you the right chances.
What matters is the first few moves. Watch the video: This player starts off by playing the moves the game intends/suggests. This is the correct strategy for the hardest levels: The game is pre determined to either make you fail, pass easily (hugely unlikely now as this level is classed as legendary) or allow you to get close enough to clinch it if you play wisely and/or play certain boosters (often just starting boosters or a single lollipop). Playing first moves other than those suggested/intended by the game will interfere with these algorithms and make it less likely for you to get a lucky board to pass. If you follow the first two or three suggested moves, if you can't see an obvious opportunity, continue to carry out the move the game suggests. After a few turns you will know if you have a lucky board and a chance to pass.
This video is a great lesson in crushing: Take a close look at the point where this player has 13 moves left.
There is a red striped candy with green candies placed underneath it in a way that suggest if another green drops above it there could be an opportunity to make a colour bomb. In fact the green that will do this is already visible on the board in the row above. This is a good sign and the kind of chance you need to look out for to pass this level. The next move will create the colour bomb.
This player was probably hoping to create a red stripe/colour bomb combo but gets better!. This is a very lucky board for them! Where that second colour bomb came from I do not know, it seems to just drop out of thin air......but it is a clear sign the game board really is a lucky board. Matching the three purples will create the double colour bomb combo to win this level.
Sadly, the game boards have become less lucky since this video was made and it is possible that you won't get a lucky board like this to pass. If the game allows you to get close with what I call a "nearly lucky board" then I would suggest you take the opportunity and use a free hand switch or lollipop, or even a UFO to clinch it. But I will have a go at testing this level out to see if I manage to pass it without boosters and will report back here later.
Hello again @jet28 I have tried level 1908 out by scrolling back on both of my games. I used all of my lives, so had 26 attempts each game at this level and never once got close. The closest I got was on attempt 27 after logging back in, playing colour bomb and wrap/stripe starting booster, which gave me a colour bomb/stripe combo on my starting board. However, I still had to use a UFO for my last but one move to leave me with the two frostings, which then both disappeared on my last move and actually passed the level.
So, sadly I must conclude that to wait for a lucky board here is like waiting for Godot.
This level is currently a pay-to-pass level and you have two options: Pay 10 gold to pass (I assume the game offers you enough extra moves to do so by now), or wait until King change the algorithm for this one. They will do so eventually, if too many players are stuck on a level like this.
As one final note, I also have 22 moves and am surprised you have 20. But as I said, I don't think the number of moves is relevant to whether a level like this is possible to pass or not.
It so happened that I was very close to level 1908 in my third test game, so I decided to see if that one gets the 20 move version, and if approaching it with a top win streak and starting boosters allows a player to pass it.
Here I am on my top win streak (the one with only one colour bomb), I play the two starting boosters.
This is my starting board. I have the 20 move version, but 3 extra moves from the top win streak.
I play the suggested move. Then look out for the best opportunities and I do get to this winning position.
I believe the blue match will win with the next move (ignore the 30minute timed lollipop I still have here from the last milestone, I'm not going to use that). I decided to not carry out this move to test if I get a decent board on my second try. But I don't, and from here on we know what will happen. Fail, fail and fail again.
For the record, I went on to pass this 20 move version using the two starting boosters and a total of three hand switches. I had 6 moves to spare, so if you pass this or not is definitely not related to how many moves they give you.
Out of interest the following level (1909 rated nightmarishly hard) gave me a lucky board just with using the two starting boosters and the final level in the episode was really easy, so I did keep my champions race win streak and almost have got my level win streak back.
So the advice I would give anyone here is: On your first attempt play starting boosters for the levels marked hard or worse, if you can get to within five moves on a tricky level like 1908 on your first try, then it's worth paying to play on, especially if you still stand a chance of winning the champions race, as this will give you 40 gold back. Legendary levels are set to make you fail, and if you do, to keep you stuck there until you pay. So you might as well pay on your first try to keep your win streak.....and your sanity.
Yeah, I’ve played this level 20 or 30 times in a row using the moves that the game suggests and I have yet to get a “lucky” board. I have no bonuses starting out and I have no bonuses in the level either. So I guess I’m screwed. I refuse to pay to buy gold bars or boosters. Not happening. I understand y’all want to make these levels challenging, and that’s fine, but they don’t have to be near impossible and you shouldn’t have to play them 30 times in a row before the game will let you win. This game is supposed to be fun and relaxing and it’s not fun when you have to play the same level over and over and over again, losing every time.
Interestingly @shellista between the original post in February and you post now, no one here in the community complained about this particular level. This makes me think that in the months in between King did give players lucky boards and made this level easier to pass and only now have they made it near impossible again. That is truly infuriating for anyone who gets to such a level now and I applaud you for refusing to pay to buy gold bars to pass this. The best thing to do would be to wait a few days, or longer if necessary, until they make it easier to pass. They will, eventually.
