No, of course they aren't really testing in the true sense of the word.
Every aspect of Candy Crush is an ongoing test in some way: King continually calculate how much players spend on the game and readjust the events each player gets, including ads-or-no-ads, and level difficulty (including what triggers a lucky board and after how many attempts you get one), according to what their calculations tell them. They recalculate continuously to make sure the game remains unpredictable, interesting and addictive, so yes they test and test and test without the test ever ending.
I’ve found that there tend to be certain times of the day where the game is more generous. If you’re a night owl, for example, playing after midnight often gives the best ad and booster support. The game tends to hold ads back during weekends and peak playing hours (afternoons and early evenings).
Also, it helps to quit the game for a while. Open it just get your daily treat streak going, but don’t play. Do that for a few days, then the more generous ad and booster options will reappear. But once they think you’re hooked again, the ads will go, and you’ll have to take a break again.
Ya if someone was in the mood and compiled all the relative info we have found it would be pretty shocking to most people.
You just nailed it!
There is a ton of psychology/ mental manipulation involved.
My feet are dug in, I only watch if I just leveled up.
When the game locks up to push me to watch the 3 at the end I refuse. I'll stick it out on the same level.
Our time is worth money too!
I am missing the saucer with extra moves now I only get 5 extra moves no saucer
Same thing I'm experiencing.
Just extra moves isn't worth watching the ads.
They think they can lock us into watching 4 ads for a very slight chance of completing the level.
I quit watching the ads.
That is King for you. Giving you the UFO as well makes it easy to pass the level. Those UFOs are quite powerful. Players spending cash gives them a much better income than they get through advertising. So they want us all to swap over to pay to play.
Now you just nailed it too @TerminatorBarbie ! Our time is in indeed precious! I never had the patience to sit through watching adverts playing Candy Crush and when some of them are half a minute long then that can be so irritating. I much prefer the game without them. And now they no longer give the UFOs I think they are mostly a waste of time.
The saucers with ads will come back. I notice there are different options with ads, sometimes they stayed the same for the whole episode race (6 or 4 extra moves + ufo, which is very powerful/ helpful), sometimes they changed to less wanted options (5-6 moves or 3-4 moves with color bomb). Sometimes they disappeared for several levels and came back after I restarted the game. Same with pre-game boosters ads.
So, either restarting the game or taking a break from it has worked for me to kinda trigger the ads to come back. Sometimes, when I didn't play any levels, I spent time watching ads to collect boosters from the cinema or hot air balloon. Of course, I'm a cheap and poor player, so King shouldn't expect any spending from me 😁.
