I played for years without ads and did very well.
But in my latest game ads showed up and I decided not to do anything to get rid of them. I am still not convinced they do really aid my game. Especially as this morning the game left me one move short of passing: I had a colour bomb next to a striped candy on my board with no moves left. I was silly enough to watch all three adverts to give me five extra moves plus a UFO. The UFO went for the wrong candies and ruined my chance of passing completely.
And then of course the game will only let you play on if you spend 16 gold. So I ask the question:
Are ads just put in the game as a psychological trick to make players spend even more gold bars? I have found recently that I never get the chance to watch ads when I really need them, such as on legendary levels. Lately ads seem to conveniently disappear when the going gets tough.
I guess we can think about adverts in lots of different ways @christinewupp Must admit I always (well nearly always) find them helpful. The one thing I do find strange is that when I'm in a different country I hardly ever get adverts for Sweet Cinema had two in the last two weeks and another week to go until I'm home to see if it was because I was away. Yes I've had the UFO and extra moves that doesn't clear the board but I'm never tempted to use 16 gold to carry on. Will be interesting to see what happens with my Sweet Cinema next week 🙃

It is something that I have commented and pondered on many times myself
I am undecided on whether or not it is a psychological trick as more often than not the adverts, even the UFO, help me complete a level. That said there are many times I don't bother watching adverts as I know I am not going to complete the level anyway.
Lately ads seem to conveniently disappear when the going gets tough.
I am surprised you think it is only 'lately' that this is occurring
Not forgetting they always seem to pause or stop the adverts whenever an Event (All Stars especially) is going on.
Thanks for your input. It's interesting to see the removal of ads for the hardest levels has been going on for a long time @Alienscar. As I only started playing with ads recently I hadn't noticed. I guess also that this only kicked in after about level 2000 for me. Before that time ads were much more helpful and more frequently available than I find them now. I also find that if I haven't played in a while they tend to come back, but if I play more than one episode a day that almost certainly makes them disappear.
