Level 2
Hi,
Android on Samsung A52. All up to date including game.
I am experiencing a very annoying problem. What I first play and fail to finish I get the "Contacting app store" screen and the whirly wheel and it just sits there. There is nothing wrong with either my wifi or data connection as everything else works. I restart the app once or twice and then eventually it will connect and I will get the option to watch ads or use gold to continue. However as I have to press "give in" or restart the app I lose my streaks and everything associated with it. this is very annoying. Any suggestions to fix? or King, how about a button that says "try app store later" so streaks are not lost.
see attachement for the screen I mean.
While I haven't had this exact issue, I want to commend this member for posting his device and a screenshot! Too many people just say app store doesn't work....the most common recommendation is to save your account/login, then delete and reinstall the app. Or just force stop, reset data. That's the real way to refresh the app 100% since there is a lot of temporary data stored as well.
I would recommend contacting King directly first to see if they can fix it or offer an alternative solution. But I do have my app crash after purchases occasionally, so it's best to plan ahead if possible
We never recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app here in the community, @pmin . In fact we continually warn players not to do it because it will delete their entire booster inventory and achieves absolutely nothing with regards to connection issues. The fault lies at King's servers and the only way to fix it can come from King, so players should always make sure their games and devices are playing the latest update.
I have found that whenever I travel on trains I get connection issues, whereas if I stay in one place on one Wifi or 4G network I stay connected easily. I do think the following may be the issue:
The game tries to connect to the server when loading. If there is no signal at all then it will open in "offline" mode. If there is a signal it will open in "online" mode. The events will open, if not immediately then after playing one level. But if for any reason the signal is interrupted, such as while I am travelling through a tunnel, the connection breaks and does not seem to reconnect until I close and reload the game. If I reconnect to the same network while the "trying to connect" is whirling around, then it will usually reconnect. But if I try to connect to a different network (e.g. I loaded the game on Wifi but then reconnect via mobile data) it won't work and I have to close the app and reload it.
Some events (e.g. Episode Race, Candy Royale) continue to play out even if you lose connection to the server which may not make it apparent you have lost connection. This only becomes apparent when we lose a level or if we try to buy something or if we try to claim a prize. This is what has caused a lot of problems to a lot of people: You think you are stil connected, but you are not. I recommend that if you are playing Episode Race or Candy Royale to check you are connected before playing the last level of these events. It is easy to see you are connected: There are other players near you on the map screen. If the other players have disappeared then your connection is gone. You need to close and reload the app before proceeding.
I have seen so many connection error posts for such a long time here in the community, this really does seem to be long standing problem King seem unable to fix permanently. I am sure they would want to fix this as it stops players from making purchases! It is probably related to how much data is being transferred between the game of each player and the Server and how often this connection is made, which seems to be more and more often during gameplay. There certainly seem to be more issues for Facebook users as well.
Well I didn't know you'd lose your boosters....but luckily he didn't seem to have any really since he's trying to buy some some to pass a level. Part of why I told him to contact King first.
As for the internet, I thought of that, but based on him saying he's connected to both WiFi and 4g/5g, doubtful that he'd be having this issue that much because of his connection. And if internet was constantly the issue, then he'd likely need a new phone, since it shouldn't be disconnecting on Wi-Fi and data. In which case the full cache reset of Candy Crush is usually recommended. Obviously it's a last resort, but when I've had similar issues with other applications, that's what my programmer and IT buddies recommend. Still.… game might crash occasionally when making a purchase or watching an Ad within the level, so I'd recommend having gold or boosters ahead of time as a reserve.
I don't think this issue is because other players are transferring data and overloading the server, he might have too much misc temp data himself. Contact King, not us. But if you have no boosters, might as well save your account, uninstall and reinstall the app. Or see if you're missing an update.
